Reflexology Treatments
Curious About Reflexology?
Using firm pressure and unique micro-movement techniques, a reflexologist focuses on “reflex points” in the feet, hands, and ears with the goal of promoting a healing response throughout the body. As these sensitive areas release tension, you’ll feel an overall sense of positive energy and well being flood your entire body. Reflexology improves mood, reduces stress, and can have a positive impact on all kinds of health concerns!
Benefits of Reflexology
This ancient technique may help with the following:
- Decreases anxiety and depression
- Enhances sleep
- Reduction in overall pain and tension
- Increases energy
- Can be done fully clothed
- Improves post-operative outcome; less pain and faster recovery
- Eases cancer treatment side effects such as nausea, pain, and anxiety
How Does It Work?
In reflexology theory, every organ, nerve, muscle, etc. in our body can be accessed via a point or area on the feet or hands. These pathways between pressure points and other parts of the body are thought to be connected via the nervous system.
The reflexologist’s application of pressure to feet, hands, or ears sends a calming message from the peripheral nerves in these extremities to the central nervous system, which in turn signals the body to adjust the tension level. This enhances overall relaxation, brings internal organs and their systems into a state of optimum functioning, and increases blood supply (which brings additional oxygen and nutrients to cells and enhances waste removal). Reflexology has a positive effect on the circulatory, respiratory, endocrine, immune, and neuropeptide systems in the body.
